This is a fragrant, dry white that is just as good as a ‘settle-in with your feet tucked under you’ wine as it is a sitting on a sunny terrace for dinner wine. It is just that versatile… and pretty. Although just the Garnacha blanca (Grenache blanc) appears on the front label, the Macabeo adds an additional floral note to the already floral cooler climate Garnacha blanca.
Hence this wine has a heady aroma of honeysuckle spice adorning its zesty citrus and lush tropical appeal. It is just as lush in the mouth, although there is a hint of a crisp crunch to the acid. The flavours last long enough to really sit back and enjoy and it finishes with some spicy ginger. Don’t limit this wine to just the usual fish or chicken dishes. Why not add some aromatic herbs and spices? It will cope with a little chilli. And if you serve it lightly chilled rather than straight out of the fridge, it will allow the fleshiness to show through.
