Valpolicella should be soft and easy to drink, however, it should have enough fruit weight to please a red wine drinker. This wine is certainly soft on the tannins, a little crunchy on the acid and its cherry and spiced fruit is a little too simple and light on to be much of a crowd pleaser.
In saying that, it might just work on a very warm day if you served it chilled with a pasta with some fresh herbs, mushrooms and chopped tomatoes and chilli.
