The Spanish are big pink wine drinkers and producers, particularly those made from Garnacha (Grenache). Historically, it was a long trip to the winery so after the grapes had been harvested they were foot trod in troughs and the juice was then transported to the winery. To protect this wines from oxidising before they arrived, some winemaker’s have traditionally added viura to their rosado (pink) wines. Hence, the appearance of viura in this wine.
In this crisp, firm finishing blend, that addition of viura adds a floral, stonefruit nuance to the spicy red fruit. It also adds some flesh filling out the body and making it a bright, versatile food wine – a good choice for your next BBQ or your next summer party.
