Rieno de la Vina Reserva Rioja

A ripe one from the premier Spanish region of Rioja.  This bold red puts the grape Tempranillo in the spotlight.  Rich vanilla, toasted oak and nutmeg overlay fresh raspberry and black fruit aromas.  These spicy nuances come from 2 years maturation in oak before sitting quietly in the producers cellar for another one year before release.  However, if you note, this wine is now 5 years old meaning it comes with some pre-cellaring time.

It is a full bodied wine that is good for easy drinking with ripe tannins and warm spiced fruit on the finish. There are better Rioja reservas out there, but if you can get this one on offer it, of course, makes it more attractive. Enjoy it with your Sunday roast.
