I have not tasted a wine from Romania for such a long time and if this is any indication of the quality that can be found in wines from this country, I will be looking for more. This one falls into the well made but cheap and cheerful category. It is so fragrant and fruity however, there is a nice balance to be found here.
Some Gewurztraminer’s are effusive but end up with a hot alcohol burn due to the winemaker’s desire to have that rich opulence which needs ripeness. That ripeness converts into a wine with higher alcohol. This wine has a more moderate alcohol, and a nice sugar balance but offers enough prettiness to satisfy. It has a great level of foodability too. Asian flavours, seafood, grilled chicken will all work well.
